African Lily

With their strong stems and beautiful blue flowers, Agapanthus are both structural and graceful plants and are coming to their peak in the garden now.

  1. These are beautiful, Ann. A flower I always associate with the florist trade, California and warm climes, I forget that we could grow it in our own gardens. Do you have to dig up the bulbs or do they overwinter for you?

    1. thank you, Eliza. I don’t dig up the bulbs but do give them a mulch of straw over winter. In colder areas I think it is best to grow them in pots and then move the pots into a greenhouse or conservatory over winter.
